Hans was a faculty member and drum instructor for Vancouver Island University’s bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from 2012 – 2025. He utilizes an eclectic, holistic, integrated, and deeply informed approach in his teaching. He has worked as a serious student with Bob McLaren, Terry Clarke, Chris McCann, and Andre White on the drum set, and many others in congas, Ghanaian drumming, and orchestral percussion. Hans brings a wide range of experience and insight to all of his lessons, from jazz to rock to classical to world music.
