Hans is a creative and collaborative force in the recording studio. He has played on sessions with Don Thompson, Phil Dwyer, Pat Coleman, Ken Lister, Dave Turner, Andres Vial, Nick Peck, Andrew Janusson, Jesse Marshall, Ben Dwyer, Tina Jones, Duncan Symonds, Phil Albert, Roy Styffe, John Forrest, Brent Jarvis, and many more. Hans brings deep drum set and percussion experience into the studio, and creates customized, multi-layered textures that complement and enhance any artist’s vision.
Hans has performed throughout Canada and abroad with countless internationally acclaimed musicians. Creative, intuitive, and eclectic, with depth and musicality, Hans is always grooving.
Study with Hans through STP Drums, an online and in-person education resource for all things drum and percussion.Hans was a faculty member and drum instructor for Vancouver Island University’s bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from 2012 – 2025. He utilizes an eclectic, holistic, integrated, and deeply informed approach in his teaching. He has worked as a serious student with Bob McLaren, Terry Clarke, Chris McCann, and Andre White on the drum set, and many others on congas, Ghanaian drumming, and orchestral percussion. Hans brings a wide range of experience and insight to all of his lessons, from jazz to rock to classical to world music.
